1- Pure Intention To Memorize Quran
The most important duty is to purify the intention and correct the goal. Accordingly, the keenness of a person to memorize the Qur’an must to obtain His Paradise and the great reward that is preserved for the Holy Qur’an.
2- Firm Resolution To Memorize Quran
A person should have such an intention when embarking on the task of memorizing the Qur’an. Without this firm decision, a person will take the whole thing lightly, he will get tired easily and will not even be able to achieve his goal.
3- Expert Quran Tutor
The Qur’an cannot be learned without a teacher. The Messenger (PBUH) was the most eloquent of all Arabs. However, the Qur’an was learned from the angel Gabriel orally. The Messenger (PBUH) also taught the Qur’an to his companions orally.
So one must learn the Qur’an from a good reciter. Nor should one rely on himself in learning to recite the Qur’an, even if he is familiar with the Arabic language and its principles.
4- Reading With Tajweed Rules
During memorization, the Qur’an should be recited in a melodic tone with Tajweed Rules, beautifying the reading as much as possible for the following reasons:
a) That the recitation is consistent with the Sunnah of the Messenger who used to recite the Qur’an in calm melodies.
b) It agrees with the Prophet’s command by saying: (He who does not recite the Qur’an is not one of us).
C) It helps to make memorization strong. The tongue will always return to a certain tone of sound and thus detect an error whenever balance or harmony is disturbed in one’s recitation.

5- Adhering To A Daily Limit For Memorizing The Qur’an
One should set a daily limit for some verses of the Surahs of the Qur’an that one would like to memorize. This limit must be reasonable and achievable. It varies in amount from person to person.
6- Continual Recitation And Revision
Once one corrects his recitation and sets a daily limit for it, he should start the process of memorizing by continuous recitation and repetition of the daily portion. The conservation should operate this command during the hours of the day and night. In this way, a person can practice his memorization even if he is preoccupied with other matters.
7- Using The Same Copy Of The Qur’an (Mushaf)
A Quran memorizer must have a specific Mushaf (a copy of the Quran) that he reads from all the time. A person remembers using vision as they do using hearing. The text, form and places of the verses in the Qur’an leave an imprint on the mind when reciting them and looking at them frequently.
8- Understanding With Tafseer
One of the important things that greatly helps in the process of memorizing the Qur’an is understanding the meaning of the verses one memorizes, and knowing how they relate to each other. The memorizer should read the interpretation of the verses he wishes to memorize, and mention their meanings while reading them. This makes it easier for him to remember.
Knowing the meanings of the verses is extremely important for memorizing the Qur’an, and for increasing the reward for reciting the Qur’an. However, one should not rely solely on this for memorization.
9- Reciting To Others
The custodian should not rely on memorization individually. Rather, he tests his memorization by reciting the verses to a friend who knows them by heart, or who follows him from the Qur’an. It is highly recommended that this companion himself be a careful keeper – he will then be able to alert him to possible subtle mistakes, as well as prompt him when he forgets or makes mistakes.
10- Constant Review Of What Has Been Memorized
The Qur’an is different from any other material that one memorizes, whether poetry or prose. It quickly evaporates from one’s mind. The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said:
“By Him in whose Hand is my soul, it (the Qur’an) is more likely to escape than tied camels”.
Even briefly, he begins to slip away from him – he soon forgets about it! Thus, it is necessary for one to keep track of what he memorizes permanently and carefully. In this regard, the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said:
“Verily, the example of a possessor (in memory) of the Qur’an is like a possessor of tied camels. If he watches over them carefully, he would keep them; if he lets them break loose, they would run away from him”.
This means that the memorizer of the Qur’an must have a portion that he recites constantly every day.
