2.6K Have you ever wondered what it feels like to turn that passion or hobby of yours into full-time employment? Many individuals have daydreamed about it, and some people are fortunate enough to experience it throughout their lives. Sometimes we start early in life, moving on when practicality kicks us out. But sometimes our dreams wait patiently for years before becoming reality – even though they may only feel immersive instead of real. After your hobby has become your job, you can learn how to edit interests on LinkedIn, but you can’t imagine exactly how things come together until after the event has happened. We’d like to share the experience of those, who have realized everything they dreamed about, as well as things you may not expect. Table of Contents 1. If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life The line between work and play is always blurry, but when you love what you do it’s hard to think of anything else. For instance, full-time professional performers often find themselves working six days per week on holidays and weekends as well. You shouldn’t get them wrong; this isn’t because their job doesn’t pay enough (although sometimes those hours can feel like cattle cars). It turns out that being compensated for your time isn’t necessary if happiness follows closely behind. And there are plenty more places where joy will flock at the end if something sucks anyway, so why bother? 2. Over time, it can become dull and uninteresting There is a lot of misconception when it comes to careers and what they entail. One common one is that because you have an enjoyable job, like having fun at work every day – which can be true for some jobs- then this means all your days will feel exciting or dramatic; however, there may also be times, where things get mundane (just as with any other line of work). That doesn’t mean these experiences weren’t worth doing though! 3. Maybe you’d like to try something new? When you love your career and have a hobby that’s also enjoyable, it should be perfectly awesome. When the desire to find new passions arise in our lives because of this feeling guilty for not having anything else going on outside work or school at all hours of day long, while still making time to do what we need when needed there too – well then, maybe, it’s finally time reevaluate, where everything stands with yourself mentally as far being happy goes. And no one wants any more guilt around finding an additional worthwhile pastime. 4. Your Enthusiasm May Evolve With Time Many of us fall in love with our careers at different points throughout the years. Sometimes, when we first start working somewhere, it is because that’s where all our energy goes. You feel like this “may be what makes me happy or best suits my personality type.” But sometimes after decades have passed by and feelings change we would realize there are other ways of doing something we love and they can give us pleasure without having to take responsibility or pressure for everyone else’s needs. 5. You’ll always believe there’s a day when it will end Many people do what they love for a living, but the truth is it can also be taken away. This may not always happen and in some cases, artistic passions last much longer than others; however, no matter how long your dream lasts there will come a morning when you wake up from this nightmare only to realize everything has changed. The price of being fortunate enough isn’t free after all! 6. You can get lost in the work For some people, working too much is a problem they face every day. It’s not that they don’t love their job, but dedicating all their time to it can take a toll on their personal life outside of work. This is something that affects many different types of careers from lawyers to doctors, and even writers! The main thing to remember is that you should never sacrifice your well-being for your job, no matter how much you love it. Your dreams might die before you get the chance to achieve them This is one of the most heartbreaking things about having a dream – sometimes we never get to see it come true. Life gets in the way or we simply don’t have the talent to make it a reality. It’s important to remember that not all dreams are meant to be, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t chase them anyway. The most important thing to remember is that you should never give up on your dreams, no matter how hard they may seem. If you’re passionate about something and willing to work hard, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. So don’t let anyone tell you that you’re not good enough – because you are. Just keep chasing those dreams! About the Author Karen Hampton Career Coach on LPWS, who knows everything about career exposure on LinkedIn.
