Windows 11, the new operating system developed by Microsoft, has been officially unveiled. It brings a number of improvements over Windows 10, and some of them are related to video games.
The new platform will be free for those who have valid Windows 10 licenses.
Window 11 Improvements
In Windows 11 will be available a number of features that we first saw on Xbox Series X and S consoles. The new operating system includes auto-HDR technology, which will automatically upgrade the light and colors of games to HDR if the system running the game supports it.
More than 1,000 titles will support auto-HDR, according to Sarah Bond, vice president of Xbox. Examples are Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, Rocket League, DayZ, or Doom 64.
The games will start faster in Windows 11, according to Microsoft. Some resources will be loaded directly through the GPU, without the need to use a computer processor.
Windows 11 will integrate the xCloud game streaming service into the Xbox App. This will allow users to run demanding games on any PC that supports the operating system. The application will also include the Xbox Game Pass service.
According to Panos Panay, Microsoft’s chief product manager, Windows 11 will deliver significantly better performance in games and beyond. Computers will return from Sleep mode faster, browsers will be faster, as will software update installations.
Microsoft has not announced a specific date for the launch of Windows 11.
